Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 8

  • React to spills immediately — Water is not your computer's friend. Try using the ole rice method to bring your laptop back to life after a spill: take out the battery, dry off the laptop as much as you can, and pop the whole thing in a bag of rice. I've heard it works wonders!

  • Keep it out of the trunk in all climates — Just like liquid, heat, cold, and your laptop are not good bedfellows. Not only do hot and freezing temps suck the life out of your battery, but they also cause damage to your internal components. Your hard drive can expand and fail in the heat and freeze in the cold if left unattended. However, if you absolutely must leave your laptop in your car in freezing temps, wrap it up in layers — like a jacket or sweater — to keep it warm.

  • Use Materials that are LCD cleaning Approved- You can't use just any old household cleaner to spruce up your delicate laptop screen and body — stay away from any all-purpose household cleaners and anything containing acetone, ammonia, or alcohol, which will strip away your LCD's protective coating. Use a soft cloth (like a microfiber) to wipe down your monitor and screen, steering clear of paper or bath towels, which will cause scratching. If a dry wipe down won't cut it, try using distilled water, or a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and distilled water, and use light, rapid circular movements to help reduce streaking.

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 7

  • Clean it up — Giving your laptop (or desktop) a thorough cleaning is essential to extending its life. Back up any data you may already have stored (on an external hard drive or a portable flash drive), organize your desktop icons, empty your computer's trash on a regular basis, and clear out any programs you don't use. This will help free up space and keep you on the fast track to productivity.

  • Practice proper shutdown habits — Shutting down all open programs and putting your laptop to sleep instead of just closing the lid will help your computer stay cool and safe while in transport. But if you've had your laptop in a cold environment, let it warm up to room temps slowly before turning it on. This will keep condensation and dew at bay, which can ruin your computer's sensitive guts.

  • Protect your investment — If you're going to be lugging a laptop around, make sure it's protected in a padded case!

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 4

  • Power Management- Now a days laptops are very intelligent, in windows you can choose the laptop for more battery usage and more performance. You can also turn off wifi, bluetooth when  not in use, turn down screen brightness

  • Close applications- Close applications when you are not using them, as they not only hog up the battery life and also turn down laptop's performance

  • Disconnect- Remove external peripherals when you do not need them, like external hard drives, optical drives, pen drives,

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 6

  • Extra Power- If you have the feeling that your laptop's battery is not upto the mark you can anyday, buy a laptop battery that fits your laptop. Although, keep in mind that you buy an original battery, and not a local one. As this is very harmful for both, you and the laptop. There have been cases where, the local battery has exploded and harmed the user.

  • When in rome- If you are traveling, you must have a socket converter, as different countries have different types of power sockets. If you travel to a lot of country's it is sensible to buy a universal adaptor.

  • Unsecure- If you think that your laptop has a very sensitive data, you must invest in a Kensington lock, a kinsington lock has Locks that are generally secured in place with a key or combination lock attached to a rubberized metal cable. The end of the cable has a small loop that allows the cable to be looped around a permanent object, such as a heavy table or other similar equipment, thus securing it in place.

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 5

  • Shut down- When the laptop is not in use for a longer time it is better to shut down rather than, suspend or sleep mode.

  • Entertainment- Playing graphic intensive games, videos, music can drain a lot of battery from your laptop, close such applications to increase battery life

  • Carry Safe- It is better to buy a laptop case to avoid your laptop from falling, getting drenched etc.  Choose the case that fits your pocket.

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 1

  • Laptop unlike their name should never be rested on a person's lap, laptops are made to rest on a solid, flat surface, for good performance, and both, the person using it and the laptop's health. I bring to you more tips and tricks for a healthy laptop usage

  • Shortcuts- For ease, all programs, folder should have a shortcut on the desktop. This not only saves time, battery, energy- both the users, and the laptop's. This way you can access them quickly. If you think this will create too much clutter on your desktop. You can make a folder and put all shortcuts in it and then place the folder on the desktop
  • Boot Faster- To make the laptop boot faster, remove unwanted programs from startup. To do this ”Press Win+R, type-msconfig, and press enter”. Uncheck all programs you do not need or use at startup, like Adobe, etc. and when you are done press ok.

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 2

  • Un-installation- Uninstall any application you do not use anymore. This will not only save disk space, but also save your laptop from slowing down.

  • Backup- Occasionally, take backup on a portable hard drive. So, if your laptop crashes you have a backup of all your important work

  • Protection- You must not only protect the laptop from internal, but also external shocks. Internally if your laptop connects to a lot of internet setups you must have a good firewall, anti-virus. Externally, you must protect the laptop from all the falls and the tumbles. This will save from all the damage that can occur to the hard drive

Tips and tricks for a Healthy Laptop Usage- Part 3

  • Cleanliness- Cleaning your laptop occasionally, specially in the ports will not heat up your device.

  • Do not drink- Avoid placing drinks near your laptop, as if the drink accidentally falls on the laptop. The laptop may go kaput

  • Battery- The battery must be used carefully when, charging, discharging, for more care tips for your battery, ask your laptop retailer or check the laptop's website.
